Becoming a Host Home Provider starts with ensuring your home meets the necessary qualifications and submitting an application. You must be at least 18 years old, have a high school diploma or equivalent, and pass background and reference checks. Additionally, all adults living in your home must clear these checks. Training in first aid, CPR, and other required courses is provided to ensure you’re prepared. Once approved, we work to match you with an individual based on compatibility, followed by a 90-day trial period to confirm a good fit.

Minimum Applicant Qualifications Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be at least 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Demonstrate honesty, reliability, patience, compassion, sound judgment, and dependability.
- Exhibit strong organizational abilities and effective communication skills.
- Reside in a rented or owned house or apartment that includes a private bedroom and a private
- Be at least 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Demonstrate honesty, reliability, patience, compassion, sound judgment, and dependability.
- Exhibit strong organizational abilities and effective communication skills.
- Reside in a rented or owned house or apartment that includes a private bedroom and a private or semi-private bathroom for the individual served, as well as shared living spaces such as a kitchen, living room, dining area, and outdoor space.
- Submit a written proposal describing the home environment, neighborhood features, recreational opportunities, transportation access, and available community resources.
- Successfully pass all required background screenings, including criminal history, driving record, and reference checks. All adults residing in the home must also meet these requirements.
- Be eligible to work within the developmental disabilities system with no disqualifying allegations.
- Complete all required training, including State-approved Qualified Medication Administration Personnel (QMAP), First Aid, CPR, Legal Rights, Mistreatment Reporting, and any additional training mandated by DDRC.
- Maintain strong verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with DDRC staff, case managers, parents/guardians, and other professionals.
- Carry valid auto insurance and maintain adequate homeowner’s or renter’s insurance coverage.
- Be willing to enter into a renewable one-year contract with DDRC.
- Own and competently use a computer with reliable internet access, along with the necessary equipment and supplies for documentation and reporting.
